New Orleans Security Doors - Thwart Break-ins with a Hurricane-Resistant Product

Your home is full of things you value: your grandparents’ heirlooms, important banking paperwork, keys to your cars, your family and pets among other items. There are few things more devastating than a break-in that results in losing some of these precious things.

While many home doors have security shortcomings such as key duplicates, structural weaknesses, and other flaws, a security door provides unparalleled peace of mind.

Security door keys cannot be duplicated, except by the security door manufacturer. Additional harder-to-break locks can be installed to prevent break-ins, and glass views can be reinforced to resist shattering.

Security doors offered by Crescent City Iron Works are beautifully-crafted to accent your residence or office, all while providing the safety you need whether at home or at work.

If you’re interested in learning more about our security doors and other options to improve the safety of your home or business, give us a call today. With over 30 years of experience servicing the NOLA area, we can advise you to the best options available for your new entrance.

What is a security door?

A security door is an additional door providing a supplemental level of security, and is generally installed outside of your main front door. These doors are commonly customized or constructed with a decorative, strengthened iron or steel frame and tempered or security glass (so you can see who is outside your house but they can’t break in).

Security doors have a variety of unique features to resist break-ins that traditional doors don’t have, including stronger mounting and more secure locks.

Why install a security door?

Did you know that one out of three burglaries begins at your front door? That’s right – while many people assume that windows are the preferred point-of-entry for a burglar, the front door is actually a vulnerable point in your home.

Front doors aren’t often constructed to resist break-ins well; in fact, kicking down a front door is one of the easiest and most common ways for a burglar to enter your home.

A residential break-in occurs every 13 seconds – it’s important to protect your family and your belongings with a greater method of protection than just your front door.

Our metal doors in New Orleans are equipped with features made specifically to resist burglary, including:

  • Deeper mounting into the wall – deeper than 4 inches, preferably at least 6 inches, to prevent the door from being ripped off its hinges
  • Heavy-duty hinges rated for 800 pounds or more
  • High-quality metals for your door that won’t bend or break with excessive force
  • Five-pin locks that won’t break if a burglar attempts to wrench the door open
  • Tempered or security glass that won’t shatter if hit with a baseball bat or crowbar

Your safety is important to us. Don’t trust you and your family’s well-being to an ordinary door. Call us and ask about our wrought iron doors for homes.

Other Services

Once you’ve secured your front door, you may decide you’d like to reinforce other parts of your home such as having storm doors. Forced entry through windows is common, and fences and gates can add a layer of security that prevents burglars from reaching your front door in the first place.

Our company more than just doors. In fact, we also provide:

  • Plantation and custom wrought-iron fences, which discourage break-ins while increasing the curb appeal of your home.
  • Single and double automatic driveway gates that only allow you and your trusted friends access to your home and yard.
  • Interior and exterior railings for stairs and porches, to prevent dangerous slips and falls.
  • And more!

Here are a few things you have to check out if you’re new to this city:

  • The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas: With hundreds of species represented by thousands of animals, this aquarium is a must-see attraction in New Orleans. And it’s not your ordinary aquarium, either: Audubon focused this aquarium on local marine wildlife. You’ll see exhibits dedicated to the Mississippi River, Gulf of Mexico, and more!
  • Frenchmen Street: If you’re not a fan of the crowds on Bourbon Street, but you like the overall vibe, take a walk down Frenchmen Street. Dubbed “Bourbon Street for the locals,” this area has the same spirited live music, food, art galleries, and shopping…without the tourists.
  • New Orleans Pharmacy Museum: Many New Orleans historical attractions focus on daily life in the city a few hundred years ago; this pharmacy museum takes a different approach. Here, you’ll learn how our city contributed to the medical field, including the connections between voodoo, cocktails, and new medications.
